I am a postdoctoral researcher working towards to the advancement of genomic and transgenic methodologies tailored specifically for Lytechinus pictus. Despite the longstanding use of sea urchins as a cell and developmental model organism, the use of transgenic technology has not been developed for this animal model.
My approach entails the integration of cutting-edge CRISPR and transposon technologies to establish versatile transgenic founder lines, thereby facilitating expedient genetic engineering applications. My efforts are directed towards several key objectives, including the identification of optimal promoters, meticulous benchmarking of fluorescent protein expression, and advancing recombinase-mediated approaches.
